Review: Outdoor Research Ferrosi Over Shorts

Most mountain bike shorts are just plain bad. They are way too long, way too heavy and make you look like a wanna be moto rider. Seriously, why are all of them made out of non breathable super heavy nylon that ends mid calf? If I wanted capris I’d buy capris. Now that I am done with that rant, let’s get into this review of the Outdoor Research Ferrosi Over Shorts. These solve all those problems.

Years ago I picked up a pair of OR Ferrosi 3/4 knickers and used the heck out of them riding, hiking and climbing. When I saw these new Ferrosi over shorts on OR’s site I had to check them out. What makes the Ferrosi great is that the material is stretchy and is incredibly breathable.

The Ferrosi Over Short has two front pockets and a zippered side pocket. The side pocket fits a phone perfectly.

The Ferrosi over shorts have belt loops, but also feature a 1.5″ wide elastic band. This makes for an incredibly comfortable short, no binding or extra bulk. I love that on the hottest days these are breathable and don’t get stuck on the combination of sunscreen and sweat covering your legs.

Another great feature of the Ferrosi Over Shorts is that they can be used off the bike. For hiking or multisport days these are fantastic. I am seriously considering unload all of my MTB specific shorts, these are just so much better. They are also made of 46% recycled fabric, what is not to love?
