This is a rare double review as these two go together like peanut butter and jelly. The CNOC collapsible bottle and Chicken Tramper Ultralight Gear Bottle Sleeve are a match made in hiking heaven.
The CTUG Sleeve fits perfectly on both of my CTUG bags using clips on the shoulder strap. Don’t have a CTUG pack, no worries it can fit on almost any pack. It has a handy little draw cord to keep the bottle from falling out when you are getting in the rough stuff too.
Now the bottle, well it is like a hydration bladder had a baby with a bottle. The top and bottom are hard allowing it to fold up into your bag.
I’ve taken to bringing it along with the Katadyn BeFree bottle on all of my big hikes and rides. The Katadyn can fill up the CNOC bottle in seconds. This is the desert if you see water, you might as well fill up. As the bottle is soft, it really works well in the shoulder sleeve. A hard bottle is a weird fit on the curved part of your body, where this soft bottle curves with your shoulders.
And as it is on your shoulder, you drink more, which is always a good thing. It does have a drawback, if you hold it below the hard top and attempt to open it or drink from it, it will spill. So you have to think about the bottle while you use it. But it is pretty cool and if you have a shoulder sleeve or want the ability to store water just in case then I’d pick one up. Is it totally a must have? No. However the combo of the CTUG shoulder sleeve and the CNOC bottle together are a really good combo and I would get that if you are hiking.
