Review: Apocalypse Design Fleece Mittens

I recently picked up a pair of Apocalypse Design Double Fleece Mittens for winter adventures and have been really happy with them. I got them to pair with their overmitts, but they can be used on their own, I wanted to talk about them. These are available in single or double layer, I opted for a pair of the double layer. I’ve owned a lot of mittens over the years, these stand out immediately in their weight and construction.

The double mitts are available with or without a cuff. I went for the cuffless design as I thought it would be easier to take on and off. The fleece mittens are incredibly warm without sacrificing breathability. I’ve put in long cold hikes without getting the inside of these gloves damp at all. These would be perfect for winter backpacking.

They are handmade in Fairbanks Alaska and an absolutely bargain at $52.

You absolutely should add these to your winter glove system. I pair these with their overmitts for extremely cold days. Breathable, durable, warm and affordable. Pick these up! I’ve owned Hestra mittens for over a decade and these far surpass those in warmth and quality.
