I was looking for a bag to carry my OMD-EM1 MK3 with 12-40 and another lens plus room for a Nalgene and an extra layer for winter dog hikes. This LowePro checked all the boxes, but the execution is just so bad. This pack is ruined by the 10000 external buckles, straps and cords that only get in the way while adding nothing to the pack. Seriously, I think the designer at LowePro made a bet with their coworker to see how many buckles they could get on to a pack this small.
So you’d like to put a small water bottle in the side pocket, well there are 3 straps and a cord in the way.
You want to close the camera pocket, needless strap there too, oh and one that will get stuck in the zipper. Notice the cord lock? That will get stuck in the buckle every time you go to close the top pocket.
Want to close the main compartment, straps and cords everywhere.
The waist strap has to be worn as it is so big and bulky. Even though it is so big, the pockets are so small they are essentially useless. Also the rigidity of the waist belt makes it hard to swing around to the front to grab your camera out of the side pocket.
The shoulder straps are weird as well, they keep slipping off of my shoulders, meaning I have to use the sternum strap, which just makes another thing you have to unclip before you grab your camera.
Anyhow, I’d avoid this unless you bought it for $40 and didn’t mind cutting off the extraneous straps. Actually if you removed all the extra buckles and cut out the waist belt it might be a good bag.
