Review: Scarpa Zodiac Plus GTX

I know lots of folks only hike in running shoes these days, but I love a good boot for long days on trails. I already have a pair of Scarpa Zodiac Tech GTX , but they can be overkill on snow free days. I went looking for a lighter version of that boot that is sticky, can do some scrambling and will provide support on long days out. Luckily for me Scarpa makes the Zodiac Plus.

These boots fit like a glove on the first hike and continued to be super comfortable.

The collar/cuff/top of the boot closes tightly around your ankle keeping debris out and providing support with not hot spots.

The sole is aggressive and super sticky.

I have hiked in the desert, the mountains and in between these boots are perfect. In fact my wife saw them, ordered a pair for herself and threw out her old boots after wearing them once.

If you need a good all around boot, get these. Need something a little heavier for more snow, go for the Zodiac Tech. Both are great boots and you can’t go wrong.

A softer, more flexible version of our Zodiac Tech with the same low-profile performance fit and full waterproof and breathable protection, the Zodiac Mid GTX excels on more moderate mountain terrain where the threat of weather still looms.
