Review: Mystery Ranch Full Moon

What can I say, this is the year of the fanny pack. As I have mentioned before I have been doing 2 hour hikes all the time lately. Being as it is the summer and the desert,  you don’t want a heavy pack on your back making you  hot and sweaty. Enter the Mystery Ranch Full Moon.

Now you may be asking, “Joe didn’t you already review this pack”? You’d be forgiven for the mistake as I reviewed the Mystery Ranch Hip Monkey a few months back.  The Full Moon is a bit smaller at 384 in^3 vs the Hip Monkey at 488 in^3. This makes for a great short or mild temp size bag. Or if you need something to walk your pups, the size is fantastic.
It has room for a Nalgene, light shell and snacks or your camera phone and water bottle. This one has been in heavy use walking the dogs every morning for months. It can hold a 32oz Nalgene along with a collapsable dog bowl, leash and some treats.
The pack stays close to your body and stays put as a result of the shape and side compression straps.
The outside pocket fits a phone and Clif Bar perfectly.
The inside has a small pocket for your wallet, keys, etc. And the pocket has a nice webbing loop to hold on to while opening and closing the pack.
The waist belt is about 60″ long, so I cut this and bar tacked a loop in the end of it.
So if you need a really well made nice fitting bag for fast hiking or just carrying your camera around, you couldn’t go wrong with this.
A great way to keep all your essentials within reach.
