It is that time of the year; night riding time. I have been using some lights from about 6 years ago and thought it was time to update. I have had really good luck with Lezyne lights because of the fact that they use off the shelf 18650 LiOn batteries. But alas they no longer seem to make lights using that battery. I had heard a lot of good things about the Niterider Lumina and tried out the 1100 Boost. The 1200 boost is the newest model, but appears to be the same more or less.
The Lumina boasts 5 settings and even more flashing settings. Luckily for me I have not figured out how to use those. I turn it on, and it has 3 light settings that I can tell are there. Which is good, I am not a fan of the single button interface for 1000 functions. So far this is easy, even with gloves on.
The button is also the charge indicator, which is red while charging and blue when complete. It charges over USB, I use an iPad charger and it takes a few hours.
The clamp is the rubber strap style, which fits even my 35mm bars. I ride some rocky stuff before work and it has not slipped once.
I like this light so much I might get a second to use on really long rides. Run times are quite respectable:
Lumens | Run Time |
1100 | 60 |
900 | 90 |
450 | 150 |
225 | 300 |
The price can’t be beat, go for it.
