Trip Report: Mt. Lady Washington in Winter

I did this trip a bit back and have been thinking about how great it was now that most of the snow is gone. Mt Lady Washington is 13,281′  and is surrounded by Mount Meeker and Longs Peak. It doesn’t see as much traffic as Longs, but it is worth the hike. Leaving from the Longs Peak trailhead you get above tree line and see it.

I mean you kind of see it in the clouds… but then the clouds broke.

You get to the saddle of Chasm Lake and the turn off for Longs. In the summer you can head straight up. But the last time I took that route in the winter the huge boulders at the top were coated in ice making it pretty dicey. So I skirted the base of the mountain and went up right of center following some great snow routes.

At the summit you have an amazing view of the Diamond.

The wind was pretty crazy at the top. Then a slog back to the car.

Super great day out on the mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park.
