Review: Heininger Advantage Sports Rack Adapter – Bike Hitch Rack Solution for Jeeps

I love my Kuat NV Hitchrack, I have one on my wife’s Subaru Forester and one on my Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler has a rear hatch attached spare tire. Which means I need to use a hitch extender.

I initially used a Curt extension, which is a solid piece of steel meant for towing trailers and other heavy things. Problem; the extender rattles like a son-of-a… I tried tape, coke can shims, weird clamps, wedges, etc. Nothing worked. I was browsing Quadratec’s website as I am wont to do and saw the Heininger Advantage Adapter.

Why this works when the Curt does not is because this is hollow and includes a threaded insert.

The wedge makes is adjustable from two different holes to adjust fit.

Then you bolt it down to your hitch.

The Kuat has a built in cam to secure the rack to the hitch, so when used together this is 100% sturdy. Damn this is perfect, it has solved a problem I have had for the last year.

So if you have a Jeep Wranger or other vehicle with a rear mounted spare check out the Heininger Extension 6000 .
