About a year ago I picked up a Millet Hybrid Langtang Jacket. It quickly became one of my favorite pieces. This summer I bought a Roc Plus Ice Hooded Softshell and it is another great coat. If you have been reading this blog for any time (almost a decade!) then you know I like gear that works for hiking, climbing, cycling, etc. Not activity specific gear. The Roc Plus ice rolls up small enough to be thrown in your bag.
The Roc Plus ice has a nice full coverage hood and a high collar to keep the wind out. The front pockets are big and can used even with a pack belt on.
And I think I have harped about this before, but every coat should have pit zips. This one has huge pit zips which are great for venting. Not sure why these have gone out of style on some coats, but they make it much more versatile.
There is a nice chest pocket for storing your phone or small bits.
I am a huge fan of this coat. As a shoftshell it keeps rain out for a decent amount of time and snow out forever. It also breathes very well, but when combined with the pit zips it great on long climbs or high output sports like fat biking.
