Review: Salsa Horsethief Carbon

Salsa Horsethief, where have you been all my life? For years I have been riding a 29er hard tail. The main reason was a throwback to the bikes of my youth and being fed up with finicky suspension widgets. But in the last 3 month I have been feeling… beat up and run down on my rides. I decided to change my game and get a 29er full suspension. I stopped in http://ubikes.com/ through a leg over this bike and fell in love. Then I rode it, now we are in full on infatuation.

It has 130MM of travel in the front provided by a Rock Shox with through axle and 120mm of rear travel.

The front triangle is carbon with an aluminum rear end. I love that it comes with a Thomson stem and post too.

The rear end uses a split pivot design. It has an 1×11 drive rain which is so nice too.

Carbon wheels with Nobby Nics. The Nobby Nics hook up great in the wet and on roots. They don’t corner the best under really heavy leaning. But not bad enough for me to change them.

I have been riding stuff  I never imaged and all of it while smiling and not feeling beat up. Everyone should buy this bike. Seriously full suspension longish travel 29ers are great and this bike is a joy.

Great bike at a great price with an amazing build kit. My usual M.O. is to go out and buy a bike, then throw another $300 on post, stem, bars and new saddle. Not the case with this bike. I threw my pedals on and haven’t thought about changing anything else.
