This is the third set of tires on my 29er hard tail. It came with a set of Specialized Fast Trak 2.0 tires. They were only good in dry conditions. Basically they were slightly bigger cyclocross tires.
I replaced them with Maxxis Ardent 2.25 tires. I have been pretty happy with them. But I noticed a month or two ago that all of the side knobs were shredding off.
So I decided to try something new. I put Continental Trail King 2.2s on my ride. This is only 1 week in, but wow! These things work great!
These tires have some big burly knobs on them. They hook up on rocks and roots when covered in sand or water.
They are directional tires, by that I mean you mount them specifically for the front or back wheel.
The Trail King is on the left and the Ardent is on the right. I am really psyched on these tires. They work great in all conditions. From the gnarliest rocks to smooth trail.
