The Viper 7 has a flasher loop on the bottom and a shock cord mesh to attach that extra layer to.
They outside has a lid loc helmet attachment, which I have to admit I never used on the old one and haven’t yet on this one. Under the helmet attachment there is a small pocket made out of softer material for your phone or glasses without scratching it.
Inside the pack you have room for plenty of trail essentials. I carry a first aid kit, Soulrun Tool Roll and pump in the pack. I can fit a small coat and Camp Wind Mitt’n when it is colder.
The backside is made of mesh with a channel for your spine.
The bladder is made by Nalgene and is easy to fill and place in the pack as it is rigid. It holds 2 liters of water, which is plenty for a short afterwork ride all the way through a few hours.
I took this to Moab and Fruita this spring and used it on 4 hour rides just running out of water in the last 15 minutes.
As always, a favorite feature of the Osprey packs is the magnetic bite valve attachment. Makes removing and reattaching while on the trail a breeze.
The waist strap is made of light 1″ webbing. It fits nicely on your back and does not need to be wrenched down to stay in place.
If you are looking for a great pack for light and fast riding with enough room to carry the essentials the Osprey Viper 7 is what you should buy.
