Review: Ortlieb Camera Insert

Fact: Ortlieb makes the best handlebar bag you can buy. I reviewed the Ortlieb Ultimate 5 Classic handlebar bag a few years ago and it has been working great in the years ever since. You can check that review out here: http://robonza.blogspot.com/2011/06/review-ortlieb-ultimate5-classic.html

This winter I have been using the Ortlieb handlebar bag on my snow bike. It’s great for holding an extra layer, food and some gloves. Lately I have been taking pictures with a Olympus OMD-EM5. The OMD is a bit bigger than my old camera. I knew Ortlieb made an insert for their handlebar bag and thought I’d give it a shot.

It is inexpensive and simply designed. It is a padded insert, with a few dividers that fits tightly inside your ultimate 5 handlebar bag.

I have been using it for a few months now and am very happy with it. With the camera in the bag I still have plenty of room for an extra pair of gloves and a small down vest.

I would use the camera insert on snow bike, road bike or smoother trail. The bike bounces around more than when you carry it on your back, so when the trails get rough I don’t carry a camera in the handlebar bag. But snow biking, perfect! You can check it out here: http://www.ortliebusa.com/prod-115.htm . I’d recommend purchasing it from Wayne at thetouringstore.com.
