I have an older Park TS2 truing stand which has served me for a very long time. However it could not true my 82mm Rolling Darryl rims on my Surly Necromancer.
The first step was to replace the calipers. Park sells a 238K upgrade kit. The new one is on the left.
Problem solved right? Nope, the tire sits on the stand at this point.
The next step was to use the Park TS-2EXT extensions.
They move the axle up higher, these are marketed for 29er wheels, but they work well for the fat wheel.
Now this worked… sort of, the calipers were still not wide enough. I had to put a spacer underneath the caliper adjusting knob. This might be because my TS2 is 20 years old though. I need to contact Park and ask if they have any suggestions.
Either way, my wheels are true and the TS2 keeps trucking along.
