Review: Wenger Ltd. Edition Squadron Rescue Diver

The Wenger Limited Edition Squadron Rescue Diver watch is a special version of the popular Squadron Chrono  dedicated to Search and Rescue Pilots. Only 1893 of these are being made and they come in a special numbered presentation case along with an extra leather strap and a special edition of the Ranger Grip Swiss Army Knife.

The Ltd. Edition Squadron Rescue is perfect for active people who want a good looking watch that you don’t have to worry about babying out on the trail. I have worn this hiking, mountain biking, etc and it has not skipped a beat. In fact I smacked it in to a tree when mountain biking the other day, nothing damaged at all.  The watch features the standard diving bezel with 120 clicks but also for timing your activity it has a 12 hour stop watch.

The Squadron Rescue comes with a silicone rubber strap that is comfortable and looks great. The strap keeps the watch from oving around on technical singletrack it fits over a jacket so you can check the time easily in the winter months.

The silicone strap is also great because it does not absorb… sweat. I’ve used NATO straps before which soak up sweat, and then take too long to dry, Another problem with NATO straps is they tend to make a watch sit too high which makes the watch bounce around when mountain biking.
The 3 sub dials are, going clockwise, a seconds dial, hours dial and 30 minute dial. The small seconds dial is in the shape of a propeller in reference to the rescue pilots this watch is in honor of. The last two are activated when using the stop watch. The stop watch feature is really great on long rides or hikes when the rotating bezel is not convenient. The large second hand activates with the stop watch. The watch is water resistant to 100m.
The Limited Edition Squadron Rescue Diver includes a special version of the Ranger Grip Swiss Army Knife. The knife is color coordinated with the watch which and it looks sharp (literally and figuratively). It is a good size and very light weight. Those black patches on the side of the handle are non slip rubber grips/

The presentation case that the watch comes in can also be used as a case for 15″ laptops.

The case is individually numbered along with the watch and knife. This is a great watch for the trail, gym or just wearing casually. It looks great and out got plenty of compliments on it. It is super tough and perfect for active folks. Sized at 43mm it is a good size, but not too large.
