I was camping in Rocky Mountain National Park and it was freezing, but I had forgotten my hat. I stopped in a store in town and picked up the Kuhl Alf Hat Ear Flap. It s a soft fleece hat with ear flaps that is warm and comfortable.
The flaps are long, but not goofy, so they keep you warm. I have an older hat like this from some other company, the cut is all wrong, it never fits right and I always hate wearing it. The soft fleece makes this comfy. You can see from all of the stitching on the hat it is contoured to fit your noggin’.
And for when you get warm, you can flip the ear flaps up and cool off.
So if you are looking for a nice comfortable warm hat at a good price, check the Alf Hat Ear Flap from Kuhl.
As a note, I have a windproof fleece ear flap hat, I hate it, that cut is horrible and it is stiff and uncomfortable. Everything that hat did wrong, this hat does right,
Kuhl Says:
- Wind and water resistant
- Chin stap secures hat in cold windy weather and holds earflaps out of way in warmer temperatures.
- Microfleece: Warmth, wicking and quick drying.
looks good. i think i have the other, poorly cut hat of which you speak. definitely looking to replace it this year.
i didn't know they still made the alf hat. i have an original one (simpler stiching design) from '85 or so. i've always wanted to get another, may i ask what store you bought yours?
Hey C-C_rider – I got this at the Hiking Hut in Estes Park Colorado. Great little store.
