We bring Zeus with us pretty much everywhere. In the summer when it is hot we have been trying to plan our hikes around water. He likes to swim. But we tried some new trails and had to bring water for him.
Zeus loves his Ruff Wear Approach Pack so when I saw Ruff Wear makes a small pack for dogs that holds two Platypus bladders, room for some treats and is light weight I had to check it out. It is perfect for a day hike with your pup.
The Singletrak pack has two pockets on the top that are large enough to hold the included Platypus bladders on each side. Not to mention the leash loop and the handle.
And on the outside of the pockets there is a smaller pocket to hold treats while on your adventure.
The bladders are 0.5L each, with an easy to open top.
Zeus is used to drinking out of bottles, so with this, we just pour water out in to our hands.
The pack is padded but not too thick, and the straps are the right size with contoured buckles. Zeus did not even notice he had a pack on. It is easy to adjust and set up, it did not move around on Zeus.
I really like this pack since I end up giving Zeus more water when he wears it. Usually I give him water out of a bottle I keep for him in my pack, which I also take out his bowl and well, he doesn’t drink that much. So I started giving him water out of my hydration pack, but sometimes I can’t get the water to stream out. With the Ruff Wear Singletrak pack on, I just grab the Platypus bladder and pour some in to my hand. It is tough and light. If you have an active pup who doesn’t mind sporting a packs check this out.
