Sometimes tools are cool, and this definitely is. When removing your cassette, you usually use a “chain whip”, which is a piece of chain that wraps around the cassette and then slips off when you put weight on it…

Using a chain whip, right before it slips off… |
Pedro’s built a much better mouse trap with the Pedro’s Vise Whip. It is so much better than a chain whip. Think of it as a modified pair of Vise Grips that have notches in the jaws to fit on the teeth of your cassette.
Like a pair of Vise Grips, they lock in place on the cassette, with an adjustment bolt on the handle to fit 11-23T cogs.
You can lower the lock nut to keep the width of the jaws adjusted for your wheel.
The Pedro’s Vise Whip locks on to the cassette something fierce. It is not coming off.
These are more expensive than a chain whip, but they are so worth it.
