Review: Asolo Stynger GTX Boots

I recently bought a pair of Asolo Stynger GTX boots for hiking and backpacking and so far they are fantastic! I bought a pair of gortex REI brand boots about four years ago and they have served me pretty well for the small amount of money I paid for them. I thought I really liked my REI boots until I started wearing my new Asolo’s. There has been pretty much no break in period at all, they felt great the first time I put them on and still feel awesome a couple months later.

Here they are on my hike this weekend with Joe and Zeus:)

The plastic toe cap may be my favorite feature of these boots. After watching Joe stomp around in creeks and rivers in his Montrail boots for the last 12 years I knew there must be something to this awesome toe cap.

They are gortex so I’ve been putting them to good use and my feet have stayed completely dry.

Here is a view of the lacing system which is very nice, not too complicated, they’re easy to get on and off.

The bottom line is I’m extremely psyched on these boots. They are very comfortable almost having the comfort and lightness of a regular trail running shoe but yet do not sacrifice the burliness and support of a hiking boot. I can’t wait for my next backpacking adventure with Joe and Zeus!:)
