Review: Showers Pass Club Convertible Pants

Recently my 10 year old Mountain Hardwear gore tex paclite pants become less than waterproof, plus they have had a hole in them from a glissading mishap years ago. I had been putting off getting a new pair, really because I didn’t know what to get. I saw that showers pass had made a new pair of rain pants the Club Convertible Pants I have had nothing but good luck with their eVent jacket so I figured I would give it a try.

They work well, I wore them in 2 hours of riding in a snow storm this weekend and my legs kept dry. I use them with the showers pass suspenders, otherwise I spend the whole time trying to keep the pants from falling down.

One of the nice touches are the articulated knee which lets the pants slide when pedaling.

As you can see in that pic, there is reflective material on the lower leg, which is key in rainy low light clothing. Also the lowers zip off to make them capris or manpris as I call them. This is a great feature for riding in the rain and having the conditions change where you would not need rain pants any more. Just zip off the bottoms and cool down. Actually I think this will be best for commuting in the fall and spring, where it is raining in the morning and cold, but by the afternoon the sun has broken through and its warm enough to not need pants. I do this with their Hybrid Zip Off pants now, except they are not waterproof.

The pants also have velcro on the lower legs to cinch down the pants to keep them from getting caught in the chain rings, or to keep some heat in(like this morning…)

I like em, I’d recommend them to anyone who needs rain pants.
