Today was a great day, the day I take the studs off the commuter and put the WTB Allterrainasaurus back on. The bike is much lighter and livelier. I run mr tuffy’s in there as well….I just don’t feel like dealing with flats on my commuter.
In the process I noticed my rear pads had worn down to the metal! I guess the last few weeks of rain wore those guys out. But I was completely apathetic to it, I just assumed it was a result of dirty rims and my ill-founded dismal of cantilever brakes.
For some reason my Paul’s Touring brakes did not come to with cartridge pads. I have no idea why. Cartridge pads make brake pad changing a one minute operation. Once you set up proper toe-in and alignment you never need to mess with it again. So I replaced the pads with Avid Rim Ranglers.
It’s nice to people able to stop on the bike again!
Summer is not too far away.
