Remounting the Busch and Muller Lumotec IQ Fly Plus

As I posted last week I got a Busch and Muller Lumotec IQ Fly Plus which is super bright. However the mount that came with it wouldn’t work with my setup, which is cantis. I tried just using a longer bolt with some chainring spacers but it did not work very well, it did not hold the fender very securely.

I stopped by the local shop to get a headlight mount, but no such luck.

I tried to fabricate one out of a rear rack strut:

Only problem with that mount was it pushed the fender down to low and would hitting the tire.

While I was looking at it, I decided to drill a hole in the fender and mount it directly to that. The light is not very heavy and I couldn’t think of a reason not to try it.
While I was at it, I switched the Tiagra STI lever out for a bar con. I have to say the bar con is the best deal going in bike shifters. For $59 you get two levers, 2 cables, 2 sets of housing, down tube cable stops, and cable ends. Plus they last forever. One step closer the remaking the old commuter.
