I had to visit the family over the weekend, they were up in the pocono mountains. Which is near Jim Thorpe, which in the early 90s had quite the rep for mtn biking. It seems not many people are in to it up there any more though. Getting info on the trails is like pulling teeth. I didn’t feel like driving out there and getting lost,so I rode at the Lehigh Gorge.
The Lehigh Gorge is a 26 mile one way rail to trail that connects White Haven, PA to Jim Thorpe. There was almost no one on it.
Totally smooth trails with cool views of water falls and a river the whole time. Plus the river is filled with white water rafters so thats entertaining.
And when you are done you can swing up to the White Haven bakery for some baked goods. I got a cranberry cookie….
But if you know me, you know my irrational fear of bees. It goes back to a ride in Seneca Lake state park in 96? When a bee stung me on the head and I had a crazy reaction, I took 6 benadryls and the swelling in my face went down and I didn’t die.
So right when I got to Jim Thorpe, at the furthest point from my car… I got stung in the crotch by a bee… I kept thinking the whole time I was going to die. I beat the odds survived to make another post though.
