Review: Spyderco Lil Native

I am a scientist, I do not need to carry a tactical spring assist blade that will scare people if I happen to use it. But I do want a nice useful knife for outdoor adventures and weekend duties. I have been a Spyderco fan for years. I happen to be driving by the Spyderco factory in Golden, CO a while back and picked up a Lil Native which my just be the perfect pocket knife for me. With a 2.5″ blade you aren’t carrying some bowie knife and with it’s super nice quality you’ll love using it.

Here are a few reasons this is a nice little pocket knife: It is small but still openable with one hand, it is handmade in Golden, CO , sharp and sturdy. What else does one need?

This thing just feels like a quality pocket knife, when Spyderco calls it a “gentleman’s pocket knife” they aren’t lying.

The iconic Native® has been a mainstay of Spyderco’s American-made product line for decades. Now all the highly evolved performance features of this incredibly popular design have been distilled into a compact gentlemen’s folder with a 2.5-inch blade. Its full-flat-ground CPM S30V stainless steel blade includes a prominent index-finger choil that flows seamlessly into the contours of the textured G-10 handle scales. The result is a compact, ergonomic package that still offers a full, four-fingered grip and excellent control. This version of the Lil’ Native goes a step further by adding our high-strength Compression Lock mechanism and a low-profile deep-pocket wire clip that is reversible for left or right-side tip-up carry.
