This loop of doubletrack and old mining roads is cool if you want to explore a few trails outside of Moab. Located just past the turnoff for La Sal Junction it is a bit cooler too. But try to go in the spring or fall, the summer is too hot and the winter is chilly. Is the trail amazing? No. Is it worth doing once? Yeah, it totally feels like an adventure and the views are great. But bring a pair of wire cutters in case the ranchers wired the gates closed. If you want a good map, it is covered in the latitude 40 Moab West map.
You should park at the looking glass rock road turn off, ride the road for a few minutes and at the first gate on the right, take it. After you climb a scenic hill passing some camp spots you will descend. As the hill peters out you reach an intersection where two very straight paths meet, go left and it will hit a rocky descent, here you need to look at the map and make it to a cattle fence, if you hit the fence, you are on the right route! Then it gets SANDY (fat bikes would be good, our plus bikes struggled). Climb for a while as the trail gets a bit tougher. Next thing you know you hit an old trough and then back to the old camp spots. You will descend back to your car.
