I have a few requirements for a backpack for commuting:
-Comfortable
-Waterproof
-Fits a laptop and a change of clothes
My office/commuting situation changed and I can’t just leave a bunch of clothes at the office. I still leave shoes at the office. But I ride with dress pants, drawls, undershirt and a dress shirt, plus tube, tools, laptop(50% of the time) wallet, phone.
And I sold my commuter bike and panniers so I commute on my cross bike. I figured why not ride it, its Ti and has disc brakes. Kinda perfect…
I live in an incredibly wet and rainy city. So I don’t want my stuff getting wet on the way in. I had first flirted with a waterproof backpack from EVO. Nice bag for the money (~$30) , but not that comfortable when full. But hey it was $30 and I liked that it was totally waterproof.
The SealLine Urban Backpack is waterproof, nicely sized and has a much nicer strap system than the EVO.
It has a rolltop closure that secures with a really easy to use hook.
Bottom line: This pack is perfect for commuting if you live in a wet area. It has a nice set of shoulder straps, the right size and good pockets and places for blinkies. The construction is top notch too.
