Review: Arcteryx Gamma AR Softshell Pants

A good pair of three season outdoor pants are hard to come by, so if you are in the market check out the Arcteryx Gamma AR. These softshell pants are good for spring, fall and winter activities. Oh you don’t believe me? Well I’ve worn them backpacking above tree line in the winter and bouldering in the spring in the desert.

The fit is perfect for me, plenty of stretch and not too many extra doo dads. There are two zipper front pockets and side pocket. No rear pockets, which is so nice. I never want rear pocket except to hold my wallet on the way to the trail.

And they have tons of stretch for when you are bouldering. Now I got these about 2 months ago and have been wearing them so much it is actually kind of ridiculous.

Have I not convinced you yet? Well trust me they are great. I will probably buy a second pair.

Moving across rock, ice, or trail is dynamic. And as conditions shift, protection from weather is an imperative. The trim-fitting Gamma AR Pant is refined for climbing, but delivers the versatility needed for hikes and approaches on mixed terrain. Wind and water resistant, its DWR treated double-weave fabric combines performance stretch, abrasion resistance and excellent breathability. A gusseted crotch and articulated knees combine with the fabric’s stretch for exceptional freedom of movement.
