Let me make this review short: This watch is awesome. The Archimede Outdoor watch is an automatic watch built for use in the back country. A great looking stainless steel case with an easy to read uncluttered face and choice of leather or stainless band you could not ask for more in an automatic watch.
The case is made of stainless steel with a screw down crown. The screw down crown allows the watch to have a water resistance of 200m/666ft, which is more than I will ever need.
I have spent years looking for an automatic watch that could deal with being on your wrist while being out in the mountains. Usually they are too heavy or too delicate. Not this watch.
The Archimede outdoor is very light, you just never notice it on your wrist. The face is clear and easy to read, including the date window. The rage all these days is to make 46mm dish sized watches. They get in the way when you are in the back country, this is a nice size at 38.5mm.
Wearing it mountain biking it is easy to read at a glance and it does not bounce on your wrist at all. The Archimede Outdoor weighs only 70g making it incredibly light for an automatic diver. The stainless case is very tough, I took a spill mountain biking, ripped my coat and the watch did not have a scratch.
The lume is very bright. I found it was perfect for glancing at while night riding.
With a watch that looks this good, you’d hate to only wear it on the trail. It looks great with a dress shirt in the office. Unlike dive watches with rotating bezels this does not get snagged on the cuffs of your dress shirt or jacket.
An additional data point for how good this watch looks, every time I wear it my wife comments on how good looking it is. Can’t ask for a better endorsement than that!
After 2 weeks of wearing this watch mountain biking, hiking, work and to the gym I checked the time against time.gov and was not able to notice any loss. This watch was bounced around a ton while riding too! The automatic movement used in the Archimede Outdoor is a Swiss SW-200.
This is an amazing watch and a bargain at the price. A perfect watch for the back country and the outdoors.
