I have been a long time user of the Park Tool GP-2 Glueless Patch Kit, they have served me very well over the years. In fact on my Surly NeckRomancer I didn’t even carry a spare tube. For many reasons, I ride on the snow and wow those tubes should be big right?
Sunday I got a late start on my ride. I decided to climb the Fourth of July road, which is really a trail in the winter.
The sun was beginning to set on my ride.
I rode through maybe 50 feet of dry ground the whole ride, where apparently I picked up a 4″ long antique hand hammered nail.
No biggie, I’ll just patch it.
Um yeah… not so much. Apparently if it is 15°F out, glueless patches are no longer sticky. It was a long run back to the truck in the dark.
As a result I now carry a spare tube and Soulrun Tool Roll in my seat bag along with a bigger better pump.
I still totally stand by glueless patches, but not for the snow bike.
