I have not been using frame bags when bikepacking because I need the water bottle cages free to hold water here in the desert. But in the winter I found I needed more room for extra layers to stay warm more than I needed extra water. Also if I am being totally honest the Moots Frosthammer has swoopy tubes making most frame bags a bad fit. Enter the Atmosphere Mountainworks Frame bag. This one is the small size and it works a treat.
One side has a skinny pocket just for holding thinner things, and the other pocket is 99% of the bag. Which for me has become my holder for my 40 Below down booties and the skinny pocket fits my emergency foot warmers, hey it is way colder in the desert in the winter than you’d think.
This bag is really nice, made in Wyoming and frankly pretty cheap. So check them out if you need one.
