Review: Take A Trip Seat Roll-Up

There are so many great small bag makers out there these days you are spoiled with choices. However with these cottage manufacturers you are taking a chance. I spotted these super colorful Take A Trip bags made in Oregon on Instagram and they really caught my eye. I am glad I took that chance. These are great little bags and a steal at the price. I had a need for a seat bag to hold a little toolkit and Patagonia Houdini coat for my afterwork 2 hour ride. I usually ride with an EVOC waist bag holding my camera and wanted a small seat bag for a multi tool and one small layer. This popped up on their instagram and I was lucky enough to grab it.

The Seat Roll-Up attaches to your seat rails with a single strap and optional stabilizer. For a few bucks more you can upgrade to an Austere MFG cam buckle. Since I have it on my rigid fat bike, I am using the shock cord seat post stabilizer. I think the best thing anyone can say about a seat bag is that while riding I have never noticed it. Which compared to some other bags says a lot.

The bag uses a rolltop closure, meaning you can size it for your storage needs. For closing the rolltop it has a really neat magnetic clasp.

I had used a Swift Industries Every Day Caddy before, but it is just a pain to take on and off and a pain to get into the bag. Plus, if I am being honest, it is boring khaki. Comparing the storage capacity of this to the Swift and they are roughly the same. The Take A Trip is so much easier to use. The Swift required all sorts of buckling and closures. Anyone want to buy my Swift EDC?

There is a shock cord pocket on the bottom if you need to keep something else at hand.

If you need a really great, hand made and light seat bag you should buy one of these Take A Trip bags.
