Review: CamelBak Arete 18 Pack

Sometimes you just want to grab a light no frills pack and go for your hike. This is where the CamelBak 18 shines. It is a simple pack with a bladder and room for a few extra layers, bottles, snacks and a camera.

The pack comes with a relatively small 50oz bladder which could be replaced with a bigger one. I really think they messed up on the bladder size, it should be 2 liters or more. Easy enough to fix, and maybe 50oz is enough for you.

It has a nice handle on the top, two side release buckles and a cord lock to keep things tidy. There is even a small stash pocket in the lid for your wallet and keys.

The main pocket is one large area, like I said this pack is simple. Which is perfect for a short hike.

The back is lightly padded and the shoulder straps are the same light material.

The pack has two elastic pockets on the side which I used for insulated Kleen Kanteen bottles. Like I said that 50oz bladder is too small for me.

This is a great no frills pack for a short hike. Which is not a criticism, sometimes that is al you need.
