It is the summer and the desert, meaning I am now part of the 7&7 club. Oh what is that? You start your ride before 7AM or after 7PM to avoid the heat. My after work ride is most often on my fat bike behind the house. Where I don’t want to wear a Camelback but I do need lots of water. The Rivendell \/ Tanaka Jim’s Cage which holds a 32oz Nalgene. They fit on a regular 2 bolt cage mount and work on bumpy singletrack. I would not ride Captain Ahab with it, but good enough for most trails and cheap at $32. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not much else to say, it works, it is affordable and if you need to carry a Nalgene why not use it? So your next question is why use this over a King Manything Cage? I have the Manything, and I use it for bikepacking. But for drinking on a ride, it doesn’t work as well. Using the Volle straps makes it way more of a hassle than this little Tanaka Cage. Your next question is why not a backpack? Well if it is this hot I feel a backpack just makes you hotter. I do wear a backpack on tech trails on my FS bike in the summer, but for my 1-1.5 hour rides this is perfect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
