I have been using these Zodiac Tech GTX boots from Scarpa a lot this spring and they have been nothing short of perfect. In Colorado this season we have had an insane amount of snow, it is July and we are at something like 500% of snowpack. So these boots have been in use on snow climbs almost every weekend.<\/p>\n

But these mountaineering boots are not heavy waffle stompers, they are light and super stiff. They also don’t require ay break-in at all. I took the dogs for a week of morning walks in them and then went out for 8 hours without a hot spot or blister.<\/p>\n

They are semi-auto crampon compatible.<\/p>\n

The shoe features a high rand to keep out water and prevent wearing out the leather in the boot.<\/p>\n

The soles have a burly Vibram sole which sticks like glue on hard packed snow.<\/p>\n

And the collar has a closer fitting gaiter to keep out snow and debris.<\/p>\n
