While I was in Moab this spring\/summer I was doing a lot more hiking and exploring trails off the beaten path. Well it is mostly slick rock, which isn’t all that slick so you can walk up terribly steep things. However you find yourself doing a bit of bouldering while you are at it. About 17 years ago I was at Neptune Mountaineering for a talk from a 5.10 athlete and I won the door prize of a pair of 5.10 guide tennies. So fast forward to now and when I went looking for a shoe for hiking and rock scrambling I went back and picked a pair of these up.<\/p>\n

These shoes are amazingly cushioned, super grippy and fit right out of the box.<\/p>\n

The dot sole is the same as found on 5.10 MTB shoes which I also swear by. These new models are quite a bit lighter than the tennies of old.<\/p>\n

The shoes have super burly and stick toe caps which are great during scrambling and keep the shoes from getting worn out kicking rocks on the trail.<\/p>\n

I’m a big fan of shoes with loops on the back, it makes them so much easier to put on.<\/p>\n

The lacing is extended super low for a climbing shoe style fit with lots of adjustability. It has a suede upper and these have stood up to months of daily hikes.<\/p>\n
