I have been using Outdoor Research gaiters for 20 years. But in the desert the gaiters use case is quite different than mountaineering. I want to keep light fluffy snow out of my boots and keep my pants dry. I’m not going to be post-holing up to my waist  in corn snow high above treeline. These Outdoor Design Perma eVent Gaiters are perfect for lesser snow fall like here in the high desert.<\/p>\n

These gaiters are made of super breathable eVent fabric which has so far never had me left me with sweaty ankles and pants  below my gaiters.<\/p>\n

There is elastic around the bottom to make a tight seal with your boot, they secure with a zipper and velcro.<\/p>\n

So this is pretty telling to me about how good they are, here I am crossing the 6th stream of the hike on a 20\u00b0 day. Everything was dry when I got back to the car.<\/p>\n
