<\/a>Many people will tell you to layer up to stay warm riding in the winter, but you probably have tried that and found out you get soaking wet. I have long held the theory that 3 or 4 layers of wicking garments ( i.e. a baselayer, jersey, vest and windbreaker) is not very good at keeping you warm and dry. Your sweat can’t make it through all of the layers. So a baselayer and a single warm layer<\/a> is where it is at, let the high tech materials do what they are supposed to do. If you are hiking, layering makes sense, you can remove layers much easier than you will on your bike in the winter. <\/p>\n

It has been getting cold and I have been riding in my  Showers Pass Softshell Trainer. It is a very nice piece of cold weather riding gear. Like all Showers Pass gear <\/a>it is well thought out and high quality.<\/p>\n

It is a very warm jacket, and with the tons of built in vents you can wear it from the single digits to the high 40s, any higher and it would be too warm. With fully taped seems it is a 100% waterproof coat.<\/p>\n

Check out these vents. I am psyched they are including pit zips, for some reason most cycling clothing has eschewed them. Why? Beats me, since they work so well. <\/p>\n

The sleeves feature zippers at the cuff for venting.<\/p>\n

There is an elastic drawstring at the waist as well. <\/p>\n

Another nice touch is the napoleon pocket for your mp3 player with a port for your headphones.<\/p>\n

My iPhone is in a soulrun waterproof phone sleeve<\/a> to prevent your sweat from ruining the phone. <\/p>\n

The trainer also has a vent up between your shoulder blades and two rear pockets. Another nice touch is a zippered pocket in the rear to hold your keys. <\/p>\n

It is a great jacket\/jersey and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get out and ride instead of sitting on the trainer!<\/p>\n
