So its that time of year again where you have to layer up before hitting the trail. I used to swear by the balaclava for winter riding when the temperature drops. But a few years ago I switched to using a Patagonia Neck Gaiter.<\/a> <\/p>\n

 The problem with a balaclava is that it is a pain to pull up and down over your nose\/face with gloves on.  The best part of a gaiter\/hat combo is just how easy it is to regulate your temperature and keep your face warm. When you are out riding or hiking this thing is great.<\/p>\n

It is amazing how much warmer a neck gaiter can keep you. I like the Patagonia gaiter as it stands up to repeated washings and is easy to wear with a helmet. Stay away from “windblock” gaiters because the windrpoof layer makes it too difficult to breath through. <\/p>\n
