So when I needed some new panniers and I picked up a pair of Jandd Mountain Panniers. What first caught my eye was that they were taller rather than wider, which helps with heel clearance on bikes with short chainstays like CX bikes or mountain bikes. My Ti Seven Mudhoney Cyclocross bike has very short chain stays and the Jandd Mountain Panniers worked perfectly mounted on the Jandd Expedition Rack.

They have one main large compartment.

And the main pocket has a 10″ telescoping storm sleeve.

The sleeve has two sets of draw cords to keep your gear secure.

Jandd doesn’t forget any details. By far the nicest I have owned are these Jandd Mountain Panniers. The construction is super solid, the attachment points and compression straps are done really well. If you need a set of Panniers for bike touring or commuting definitely pick these up.

Jandd Says:
Most on- or off-road cycling adventurers, especially those who value versatility and rugged durability consider Mountain Panniers de rigueur equipment. Each top-loading main compartment is designed with a sturdy double-layered floor and features a 10″ telescoping storm sleeve with a zip-off floating hood. The hoods have been redesigned with zippered side openings for easier accessibility and feature bungees across the top to hold jackets, sleeping pads, etc. Dual horizontal compression straps encircle each pannier and will accept both the Pannier Pocket or Backpack Pocket, allowing a wide range of gear to be contained, compressed, and controlled. The narrow profile of the Mountains allows them to work equally well as front or rear panniers, and the ease with which they convert to hand-held bags contributes to their versatility: snap the bags together by their handles at top and at the lower mating snaps, then attach an optional shoulder strap to the D-rings located at the side of each bag. 3M Scotchlite Reflective Material sewn around each bag adds a measure of nighttime safety.

Specifications:
Volume: 2076/ 4076 ci 34/ 67 ltr (pair)
Dimensions: 14.5 x 9.5 x 5 (in) 37 x 24 x 13 (cm) (per side)
Storm Sleeve: 10 in/ 25.4 cm
Weight: 60.8 oz/ 1.72 kg
Material: Dupont Cordura®

As you might know from reading this blog, I am a fan of Jandd gear.
