I use a Canon S95 and most importantly an Ultrapod 1 Tripod. The reason I like the Ultrapod is that it is so compact, lightweight, well made and also incredibly stable.

It folds up in to a small pocketable size.

As the name suggests it has 3 folding legs, each with rubber tips that keep it form sliding on odd surfaces, like a tree stump… And with its unique triangular shape coupled with its velcro strap you can attach it to a tree for photos.

The Ultrapod will attach to any camera with a threaded tripod mount, and the camera never slips around because the mounting plate is covered with cork.

I have been carrying this in my backpack every hike or bike ride for the last 10 years and it has not worn out.
