I have a Hilleberg Soulo, that tent and I have been through countless adventures in the snow together. In fact one morning I woke up with 18′ of new fresh snow and I had not noticed because of the burly Soulo. For warmer days the Soulo it is a bit overkill. The trend these days is for ultralight tents that favor low weight over comfort and durability. I’ve had my eye out for a light 3 season tent, but none seemed to have the features I wanted. So when I saw that Hilleberg came out with a lightweight trekking pole tent that also lived up to the Hilleberg reputation I picked one up.  The Anaris is a 3.1 pound two person 3 season tent that frees up room in your pack and lightens the load on your back. <\/p>\n

The Anaris is full of Hilleberg DNA with a dash of ultralight ethos thrown in. It uses a double wall classic “ridge” design with doors on each side and double vestibules.  The two door design of the Anaris is airy keeping you cool in the summer, but when the temps drop you can zip up both vestibules to keep some heat in.  As the outer fly still allows for plenty of air flow so you don’t wake up with condensation inside the walls in the morning. <\/p>\n

What helps keep the weight of the Anaris down is that it uses your trekking poles as tent poles. I set mine to 125cm and it was as sturdy as any free standing tent I have owned.  And you can see in the above picture the vestibule can cover your backpack and boots during bad weather. <\/p>\n

Once you stake out the four corners and the two doors you are set for the night. In these pics I am set up right at treeline at ~10,500′ in the La Sal mountains and the tent was a fortress against wind and cold.<\/p>\n

Even though this is a two person tent it is light enough for a solo backpacker who wants a bit of room, like me. There is room to sit up all the way inside and your sleeping bag is not touching either wall. <\/p>\n

It packs down to about the size of a 48oz Nalgene.<\/p>\n

I’m really happy I made this purchase. The tent is perfect for anyone who wants something ultralight but not disposable like so much of the ultralight gear available. No corners are cut with Hilleberg gear and the Anaris is no exception. <\/p>\n

ONE WARNING: <\/b>This tent is not good on rocky ground or sandy ground. I use a different tent in the desert. If the pegs do not have good purchase it is a mess. <\/p>\n

As with all our models, the Anaris has linked outer and inner tents, allowing simultaneous pitching of both or separate use of either. The outer tent, made with our very light yet strong Kerlon 1000, provides both outstanding weather protection, and, thanks to the walls not going all the way to the ground and the curved patterning at their bottoms, full-time air flow. Roll both doors on both vestibules completely away, and the inner tent\u2019s full mesh doors and entrance walls provide superlative venting for very warm conditions.<\/p>\n
