As much as I am a reviewer of new gear,  I like to use what works and has been working for a while. I picked up a new pair of Lowa Camino LL<\/a> boots this past summer and they are great. The Camino LL ended my search to replace my 17 year old boots. But this winter I wanted to get something with a stiff sole that would work with crampons. Since I cannot say a single bad thing about the Lowa Camino LL boots I looked for another boot from Lowa.  I ended up with the Cevedale GTX because of the large rubber rand and stiff sole.<\/p>\n

The Cevedale GTX has has a split leather exterior with full Gore Tex lining. Now I know what you are saying “But Joe, you are not a fan of Gore Tex boots, so whats the deal yo?” Since the Lowa Cevedale is full leather you don’t have the nylon panels that leak and get soaked with water like on most Gore Tex boots. <\/div>\n

The interior breaths nicely and the soft surface means I have never once gotten a blister wearing these. <\/div>\n

The Lowa Cevedale GTX is about 1.5″ higher in the ankle when compared to the Camino LL which benefits you in two ways; extra ankle support and keeping snow out. <\/div>\n

These are great when kicking steps in hard snow or with a heavy pack on. The Vibram sole hooks up in snow and mud both. <\/div>\n

As with the Camino the Cevedale has a tongue stud which you lace in an X pattern keeping you from getting hot spots on your shin. <\/div>\n

I have used these hiking, with snow shoes, crampons, and mountain biking. They are a great boot and very comfortable. If you need a mountaineering boot or heavy duty hiking boot look at the Lowa Cevedale GTX. <\/div>\n
