Sure I have been using them for the past few years while mountaineering, hiking and cycling. But the other day I rode up to 11,000′ after dinner and I was reminded how great they are. It was maybe 45°F at the summit with a bit of rain. Mind you it was 65°F when I started riding. As always I had the CAMP Windmit’n in my pack since they pack so small and they saved the day.

These might be the best little things you can keep in your pack for your hands. As you can see they weigh next to nothing at 15 grams and pack down to the size a of wet nap. In the fall and spring they are great to wear on cool days, in the summer I wear them on morning and evening descents. I have rocked these while above treeline while heading uphill, where you need to keep your hands warm without sweating up your big mittens for the descents.

Seriously, you really do need to get a pair of these. They can save the day, making what would have been a pair of miserable cold hands toasting warm. With how small they are to pack you’ll just leave them in your pack year round.

CAMP Says: http://camp-usa.com/products/winter-gloves-hats/windmitn-1787.asp

• Backcountry Skiing, Running, General Mountaineering

• Built-in stuff sack
• Pair packs down to the size of a tea bag
178701: Small
178702: Large
Weight/pair (size 1): 15 g, 0.5 oz
$24.95 USD

Ultralight windproof mittens—only a half ounce per pair— designed to fit over thin gloves for extra protection when temperatures drop and winds start ripping.
