Canyonrims Recreation Area is a secret hidden in plain site. Nestled between Moab and Canyonlands National Park is an amazing wilderness area with almost no one in it. So when I wanted to go for a bikepacking trip I poured over my FA Barnes Canyon Country maps and books and picked out a cool route and went for it. Like many of my trips, the planning was thrown away when I saw a nice looking doubletrack. I found a parking spot and in no way rode the route I planned. It was great, 2 days, 1 night and I literally ran in to no other  human soul. <\/p>\n

What I ended up doing was parking near the Hatch Point campground and riding to a spot with a great view figuring out where I was on the map and kept going. You should do this, just pick a doubletrack and go for it. There is no way to get lost, you are surrounded by canyons on all sides. Oh you might get sort of lost… but you’ll be ok. Just bring a lot of water because there is none. <\/p>\n
