Am I a bit like the princess and the pea with gloves? Sure. But for shoulder season bike packing and backpacking the Enlightened Equipment Torrid Mittens are pretty great and there is no pea in the glove. I don’t know where I am going with this analogy. These are super warm even ignoring the size, they’ve kept my hands toasty down to the mid 20s. Do you need something for those first few hours in camp and when you you start out hiking? These work great in that scenario. These are ultralight, meaning they do not have a fancy reinforced grip on the palms, no d-rings or other things, these are to the point light weight mitts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a small elastic cord to tighten the cuff. And after many days with these on the grips of the handlebar or trekking poles they show no signs of wear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These weigh next to nothing and take up very little room in your pack. I am a medium in most gloves and these fit great for me in a medium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only downside I can see is that the thumb lining goes inside out almost every time you them off. But that is the price you pay for ultralight. I’d not hesitate to recommend these to anyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
